Head Start Preschool open enrollment

Head Start Preschool is offering open enrollment for all Miami County children Wednesday, April 18 at Elmwood Elementary from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at 515 N. Wayne St.

Children must be 3 or 4 years of age by August 1 to qualify for enrollment. Parents must bring with them proof of income, shot records and their child’s birth certificate when they arrive.

During enrollment, parents and children will have several community resources to take advantage of including free blood pressure checks and other small health screenings.

Staff from the Purdue Extension: Nutrition Education Program are also going to be available for parents and children who want to learn how to plan a healthy meal without breaking the bank. As well as, the Tobacco Coalition to speak with community members interested in quitting smoking.

The Head Start Program serves Miami, Howard, and Tipton counties and is a level 4 in Indiana Paths to Quality – the highest level of quality, NAEYC accredited, and state licensed preschool.

The program also offers a fatherhood program for parents and offers families their own advocate and social worker to support their needs and goals throughout the year.
