Argyle Dee Savage Oct. 6, 1943 - May 7, 2018

Argyle Dee Savage, 74, of Peru, passed away at 6pm on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Blair Ridge Health Campus. He was born in Peru, Indiana on Oct. 6, 1943, the son of W. Scott and Hazel Marie (Bunnell) Savage. He married Barbara Ann Butts on Aug. 8, 1964, in Rochester, Indiana.

Argyle was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He also was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon / Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He graduated from Rochester High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science degrees from Ball State University. He taught biology at Ball State University, Peru Community Schools and Ivy Tech at Kokomo. He gave G.E.D. exams in Fulton County, Indiana and retired from MetLife Insurance Company.

Argyle enjoyed spending time at his lake cottage at Lake Manitou, fishing, and boating. He also liked taking nature walks, identifying birds, flowers, and mushroom hunting. He spent many winters in Cedar Key and Placida, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and daughters Jennifer Ann Savage (John DeGroff) of Warsaw, Indiana, and Erin Marie Savage (Michael Phillips) of Peru, Indiana. Also, sisters Sharon Savage of El Verano, California, and Anita DuBois of Rochester, Indiana; brother Louis Savage (LeeAnn) of Bluffton, Ohio; and grandchildren Briley Roseberry of Indianapolis, Bryson Ragland of Peru, Ellie Mae Phillips of Peru, many cousins, a brother-in-law Jack Butts (Ann) of Naples, Florida, many nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws J. Lloyd and Annabelle Butts, and a niece, Jean Ann Lautzenheiser.

Friends may call from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Main Street United Methodist Church, 81 West Main Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Lauren Hall officiating. Burial will take place at Plainview Cemetery in Macy, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
