State Police investigation leads to three arrests

Two Peru residents and a Logansport man were arrested Tuesday afternoon following an Indiana State Police and Indiana State Excise Police Department investigation.

According to an ISP press release, the investigation began after officers received a citizen’s tip about possible illegal drug activity at a residence in the Eagles Point housing addition. Over the course of their investigation, officers were reportedly able to gather enough probable cause to obtain a Miami County search warrant for the property.

“During a subsequent search of the residence, officers allegedly found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and two firearms,” stated information from the release.

Officers also located three children, aged 12, 13 and 14, in the residence who were released into the care of the Indiana Department of Child Services.

Residents of the home Christian Schultz, 28, and Jacinda Schultz, 39, were arrested and transported to the Miami County Jail where they’re facing criminal charges for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and three counts each for child neglect, according to the release.

Logansport man, Jacob Markley, 33, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both with prior convictions.

Christian and Jacinda Schultz are being held at the Miami County Jail each on a $26,000 bond while Markley is being held on a $6,000 bond.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
