In Brief

One dead in Miami County crash

A car accident Monday evening on Strawtown Pike between County Roads 900 and 1000 South left a Greentown man dead, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Department

According to MCSD Sergeant Tyler Jenkins, Daniel Amonett was traveling southbound on Strawtown Pike when for an unknown reason his vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

“It appeared the driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected,” Jenkins said.

At the time of the crash, Amonett was transported via Lutheran Air to Fort Wayne where he later died. The official cause of death is unknown at this time.

Toxicology results are pending, but speed and not wearing a seat belt were factors in the accident.

Amonett was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
