June 12

The Miami County Board of Zoning Appeals: will hold a public hearing on June 12 at 7:45 p.m. or five minutes before the Planning Commission meeting in the G.A.R. at the Miami County courthouse. The board will hear any comments regarding a variance application for Howes AD Lot 30 at 362 Second Street in Denver.

The Peru Circus Festival Band: is hosting a concert as part of its summer concert series on June 12 between 7 and 8 p.m. at Eastwood Place, 701 E Main St., in Peru. The concert is to promote the Circus City Festival and Circus. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music. For more information contact Rex Stitsworth at 469-1920.

June 13

The Peru High School Class of 1960: will host its monthly dinner on June 13 at 5 p.m. at My Pizza My Way at 647 East Main Street in Peru. For more information contact Carolyn Crist at 395-6139 or 469-4740.

June 15

The Peru Church of the Brethren: will host a block party on June 15 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 134 E 5th St. in Peru. The event is being held to raise awareness about the church’s vacation bible school, community outreach and other activities. It will feature a bounce house, games and facepainting. The Peru Fire Department will have a truck on display and hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served free of charge. For information, contact David Noonan at 469-1570.

The Pipe Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department: will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage and breakfast on June 15 from 7 to 11 a.m. at the fire station at 339 W Pearl St. in Bunker Hill. Funds will go toward the purchase of equipment and tools for fire and rescue operations. Prices are as follows: Adults, $6; Children, 6 to 12, $5; and children 5 and under eat free. June 17

The American Red Cross and the First Baptist Church of Denver: will host a blood drive in the church’s fellowship hall at 111 N. Yorick St. in Denver on Monday, June 17, from 1 to 6:30 p.m. To schedule a donation appointment call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org, and enter sponsor code “fbcden.”

The Miami County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors: will meet on June 17 at the USDA Service Center at 1626 W Logansport Rd. The board will first convene an executive session for “discussion of records classified as confidential by state or federal statute” at 7 p.m. The meeting will begin immediately following the session.

The Grant County Board of Zoning Appeals: will meet at 6 p.m. on June 17 at the Grant County Complex at 401 S Adams St. in Marion.

The Circus City Sams: are hosting their Good Sam Campout from June 21 to June 23 at the Bozarth Recreational Resort on Salamonie Lake. Members and non-members are welcome to the join the fun. The Miami County Farmers’ Market: will happen every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of September at the corner of Fifth Street and Broadway outside the Miami County Museum.

Registration has begun for the YMCA’s youth sports camps: including soccer, basketball and gymnastics. Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure T-shirts are delivered in quantity and on time; walk-in registrations on the first camp day will also be accepted. Movers and Shakers: The Peru Public Library will offer this every Monday on the children’s floor, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Story Time: The Peru Public Library will offer story time on the children’s floor every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Peru Animal Care and Control: will offer low cost pet spaying and neutering every second Thursday of the month. Drop-off times for dogs are 6:15-6:30 a.m., and cat drop-offs are from 6:30-6:45 a.m. Pickup time is from 5-5:30 p.m. Call 450-6750 for more information.

Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church: will host Saturday morning breakfast on the second Saturday of each month from 8-10:30 a.m. There will be scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, sausage, fried potatoes, pancakes, coffee, orange juice and water. $6 donations are welcomed. Dukes Memorial Hospital: needs men and women volunteers, ages 18 and up. Those interested can pick up an application at the information desk, gift shop or registration desk. The application can then be turned in at the information desk and will hear back from the director of volunteers.
