The Peru High School Class of 1960: will host their monthly dinner at 5 p.m. on July 11 at My Pizza My Way at 647 E. Main St. in Peru. For more information contact Carolyn Crist at 395-6139.

July 12

The Peru High School Class of 1956: will host its monthly lunch at the Dutch Cafe on July 12 at 11:30 a.m.

July 13

Ebenezer UM Church: will have its annual homemade ice cream social on Saturday, July 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be many flavors of ice cream, including some sugar-free, as well as sandwiches, drinks, and other desserts. A bake sale will also be on-site. The church is at the corner of Meridian Road and 1100 North in Miami County. Free will donation. Everyone is welcome.

The Mississinewa friends group will host a campground garage sale on July 13 from 8 a.m. to noon. Those interested in setting up booth space may call Ron (Friends of Mississinewa president) at (317) 250-0109. Sale items are expected to include, but are not limited to, outdoor related items such as hunting, fishing, trapping and camping. No firearms. Daily entrance fees apply: $7 per in-state vehicle; $9 per out-of-state vehicle.

July 14

Peoria Church: will host its annual ice cream social fundraiser on July 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 5575 E 325 S., near the Mississinewa Dam. There will be homemade ice cream, a car show and a concert on the lawn. Free will offering.

July 15

The Peru High School Class of 1967: will have their monthly lunch gathering on July 15 at noon at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. For more information, contact Gary Loe at 469-0034.

The Miami County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors: will hold their monthly meeting on July 15. The meeting, to be held at 1626 W Logansport Rd. in Peru, will begin immediately following an executive session that the board will convene at 7 p.m.

The Peru Municipal Aiport Board of Aviation Commissioners will hold an “out of cycle” meeting on July 15 at 5 p.m. at the airport. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss details of an upcoming fly in. 

July 17

The U.S. Department of Agriculture,  Farm Service Agency: will host an informational meeting regarding the 2019 county committee election process on July 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the Miami County FSA Office located at 1626 W Logansport Road in Peru. Producers, including minority, women and new farmers, are encouraged to attend the meeting and participate in the 2019 election.

July 19-21

The Circus City Sams: will host their Good Sam Campout from July 19 to July 21 at Old Mill Run Park in Thorntown. Members and non-members are welcome. For more information call Steve or Iris Lewis at 878-4970.

July 21

Emmanuel United Methodist Church will be closing its doors after the final worship service on Sunday, July 21. Located at the corner of 1500 N 500 E in northern Miami County, local residents began worship services at Emmanuel in 1853. The current church building was constructed in 1902. Worship service will begin at 9:15 a.m. for those wishing to attend.

July 27

The fourth annualSara’s Run for the Rocks: On Saturday, July 27 starting at 9 a.m. Same-day registration and packet pickup begins at 7:30 a.m. (and ends at 8:30 a.m.) at Anytime Fitness next to the Nickel Plate Trail. The Wayman A.M.E Church: will host a Saturday morning breakfast on July 27 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at 201 East Third Street in Peru. Scrambled eggs, waffles, fired potatoes, bacon sausage, coffee and biscuits and gravy to be served. $7 donation. For more information call 472-2369.

July 28

Upper Wabash Interpretive Services is hosting a canoe trip on a Miami County section of the Mississinewa River from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 28. Those interested should bring their own canoe and gear or may sign up to borrow a canoe (limited availability) and PFD at time of advance registration. Meeting location to be given at time of advance call-in registration. July 29

Women4theLand: will host a free consservation discussion and field tour on July 29. Women who own or manage farm land in Miami and Wabash counties are invited.  Coffee and registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. at McClure’s Orchard, 5054 N. U.S. 31 Peru, IN 46970. The Miami County Democratic Party: will hosts its monthly meeting on July 29 at 6 p.m. at the Peru Public Library at 102 East Main St. For information contact Charles A. Wagner at 473-4771.

July 31

The Denver Baptist Church: is hosting a mobile food pantry on July 31 at 11 a.m. at its location at 111 Yorick St. in Denver. It is recommended that visitors bring a laundry basket or box to carry food home. Typical mobile pantry items may include: fresh produce, frozen meat/protein, bread, baked goods, dry goods, pasta, beverages and laundry soap. August 15

Harvesting Capabilities, Special Needs Kids Division is hosting an informational workshop on future planning for dependents with special needs on August 15. Gordon Homes, a MassMutual financial advisor, special needs parent and special needs planner will be presenting. The workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Christian Church firehouse building at 12 N. Miami St. in Peru. The Miami County Farmers’ Market: will happen every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of September at the corner of Fifth Street and Broadway outside the Miami County Museum.

Movers and Shakers: The Peru Public Library will offer this every Monday on the children’s floor, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Story Time: The Peru Public Library will offer story time on the children’s floor every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Peru Animal Care and Control: will offer low cost pet spaying and neutering every second Thursday of the month. Drop-off times for dogs are 6:15-6:30 a.m., and cat drop-offs are from 6:30-6:45 a.m. Pickup time is from 5-5:30 p.m. Call 450-6750 for more information.

Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church: will host Saturday morning breakfast on the second Saturday of each month from 8-10:30 a.m. There will be scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, sausage, fried potatoes, pancakes, coffee, orange juice and water. $6 donations are welcomed. Dukes Memorial Hospital: needs men and women volunteers, ages 18 and up. Those interested can pick up an application at the information desk, gift shop or registration desk. The application can then be turned in at the information desk and will hear back from the director of volunteers.
