Police seek public's help as stabbing investigation continues

STAFF REPORT - Peru Tribune

The Peru Police Department is asking for the public’s help as authorities continue to investigate a Sunday morning incident in which one man’s neck was cut.

Police arrested 24-year-old Rannin A. Shuler, on charges of battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness, shortly after responding to the area of Broadway and Sixth Street around 2:30 a.m. to the report of a stabbing.

But the police department said in a Thursday social media post that they are still investigating the incident and asking for anyone with knowledge about it to come forward.

“In reviewing video from businesses in the area, it appears as though at least two people may have been recording the altercation on their cell phones,” the post said.

Police said they would like to speak with anyone who recorded the incident or anyone who may know the individuals who appeared to have been recording.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Colten Pitner at (765) 473-2150, ext. 112.
