Boomerang Sisterhood announces grant availability in Miami County

The 2019 Boomerang Sisterhood grant application is now available to charitable organizations that benefit Miami County. The application is due on Sept. 3.

The Sisterhood will award three to four grants in the range of $1,000 to $2,000.

Grants are made possible through the Boomerang Sisterhood giving circle. This group of local women make an annual contribution of $120 to become a voting member. Members don’t attend regular meetings or have extended responsibilities, other than to cast an annual vote for projects they want to support.

Sisterhood contributions are pooled together, with half of the annual membership fee used for immediate granting and the other half invested in the Boomerang Sisterhood endowment fund with the Miami County Community Foundation. This ensures that the fund will grow, and yearly grants will be available to benefit Miami County indefinitely.

Applications are reviewed by the Boomerang Sisterhood’s grants committee and finalists are selected to make a presentation to the members of the Boomerang Sisterhood at an annual social. Members then vote for the organization they most want to support.

Since 2008, The Boomerang Sisterhood has drawn upon the wisdom and resources of Miami County women to create a better community through charitable giving. The Sisterhood’s mission is to “inspire Miami County women to reach their full potential to create a better society.”
