After waiting for what seemed like forever for the Indiana deer seasons to get here, I was fortunate enough to “fill my tags” rather early. That does not happen very often. I am used to still being out there in the woods, usually dealing with the wind, rain, snow and ice. I am then complaining about getting up early in the morning, losing sleep, driving to the woods and making a long walk in the dark to one of my tree stands or ladder stands. I’m hoping I don’t spook any deer, and after entering the stand and getting situated, I just hope I see deer activity.
This year, I celebrate 58 years of deer hunting and trust me, I can only recall possibly three or four times that I “filled my tags” early. But this year was the earliest.
