Dec. 8

The Peru High School Class: of 1956 is holding a Christmas lunch at the Peru Civic Center on Riverside Drive. The cost is $11. For more info, call Norma Harmon at 765-473-5619.

Dec. 9

The Corinth Brethren Church will be sponsoring a community breakfast: on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Twelve Mile Community Building. The menu: fried mush, sausage gravy and biscuits, pancakes, smoked sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit cup, pastries and beverages. The proceeds will benefit missions outreach. 

Peru Elks Lodge #365: is hosting a “Breakfast with Santa” event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Bring the whole family for a great breakfast, and let the kids get their pictures taken with Santa afterward. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for kids under 10. The lodge is located at 122 N. Broadway in Peru.

The Mexico Church of the Brethren: is holding a grilled tenderloin meal from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to benefit Jim Fouts, a Peru businessman who is battling leukemia. T-shirts can be purchased for $10 at the event and a raffle is also planned. Free will offerings will be accepted for the meal and donations for him can be sent to Mexico Church of the Brethren, PO Box 296, Mexico, IN 46958. For more info call: 765-985-2313.

The Twelve Mile Christmas pageant: is set for today and Dec. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This is a drive through Christmas Pageant held annually at Plank Hill Park in Twelve Mile. Enjoy a drive through the town park as you experience the birth, life, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Now Generation will be hosting a Community Breakfast: at New Waverly United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 9 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The menu: Sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage patties, pancakes, oatmeal, orange juice, coffee. All free will donations will go to church missions.

The Roxy 5 Theater presents the movie “Elf”: as part of their fifth annual Free Family Christmas Movie Series. This is the perfect event for families to come together and get into the holiday spirit. Moviegoers are invited to stay after the movie for a special performance by the PHS Swing Choir and other children’s Christmas activities. Doors open at 9:20 a.m. and the movie starts at 10 a.m. The Roxy 5 Theater is located at 100 Roxy Ln. in Peru.

Dec. 10

The Mexico New Life United Methodist Men’s and Women’s Group: is holding a potato bake fundraiser from noon to 1 p.m. The church is located at 3039 West 400 North in Peru. For more info, contact Ron Working at 765-470-2078.

The Choir, Orchestra and Children’s Choir of Lakeview Wesleyan Church: will present Michael W. Smith’s “Agnus Dei” at the church 5316 S Western Ave., Marion. Under the direction of Christina Huff, Director of Music, there will be two presentations: Sunday morning December 3 at 10:30 a.m. and on Sunday, December 10 at 6 p.m. The public is invited to make this special presentation part of their Christmas celebrations this year.

The Peru High School Band Christmas Concert: will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. in the PHS Auditorium. Featured groups include the Concert Band and the Jazz Band. Plus a special adult Vocal Quartet (Shelly Ploss, Sandy Ploss, Tom Gustin and Rex Stitzworth) that will be featured with the Concert Band. There is no admission charge.

Dec. 11

Dec. 12

Love Star Wars?: Test your Star Wars universe knowledge and compete for the prize box at the Peru Public Library’s Star Wars Trivia Night. The event begins at 6 p.m. You can compete in teams up to four, with prior registration required to ensure your spot is saved. Prizes vary from Star Wars magnets to a Star Wars Bluetooth speaker. The Miami County Public Defender Board: will hold a regular meeting on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Public Defender’s Office, 25 Court St. Suite 208 in Peru.

Dec. 13

Get ready for Food Finders Mobile Pantry giveaway day: Sponsored by New Life Methodist Church, the event takes place on Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. Items are distributed on a first come, first served basis and could include frozen, produce, snacks, baked goods, canned goods and laundry soap. The church is located at 3039 W 400 N in Peru.

The Miami County Recorder’s Office: is sponsoring a New Laredo Suite unveiling. This program is for public use for searching land records. There will be two sessions held, a morning session from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. It will be held at the Miami County Courthouse in the Old Commissioners room on the first floor. Dec. 16

The Converse Church of Christ: presents it’s fifth annual Christmas musical “And Then There were Shepherds.” The performances are set for Saturday, Dec. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 17, but there will be two shows on Sunday – one starting at 9 a.m. and the other at 6 p.m. The church is located at 301 E. The Bunker Hill Community Center: will host a Holiday Meal Appreciation for police, fire, EMT, and military service men and women at 12:30 p.m.

Dec. 17

The Roxy 5 Theater is hosting “White Christmas”: for free on Sunday, December 17 from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Come early, however – this event has been popular in the past – and seating is limited. The Roxy 5 Theater is located at 100 Roxy Ln. in Peru.

Dec. 23

Wayman A.M.E. Church: is cooking up breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with chef George F. Jackson at the helm. The menu includes scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage gravy and biscuits, fried potatoes, bacon, sausage and coffee. Dine in or take out with a $7 donation. The church is located at 201 E. Miami County Living Free: is sponsoring Insight Groups for both men and women. Among other topics, the nine sessions will cover the upward path to Christian living, the definition of a life-controlling problem, delusion and denial, walls of defense, carefronting and leveling. The men’s group gathers from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at EastPointe Bible Church, 1540 E. Paw Paw Pike. The women’s group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., also at EastPointe Bible Church.
