A truck turns onto U.S. 24 from S.R. 19 on Thursday morning. State officials have proposed modifying the intersection to what is often referred to as a J-turn.

Local legislators are planning to meet with officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation to continue to push back on a plan to make changes to the Miami County intersection of U.S. 24 and State Road 19.

State Rep. Ethan Manning told the Tribune on Thursday that he and Sen. Stacey Donato have asked for either a meeting or a phone call with INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuinness or his chief of staff, to discuss the plans to put what is often called a J-turn at the intersection northeast of Peru.
