On Jan. 26 the City of Peru was awarded $2.75 million in Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) funds to pursue its Riverfront Development Project. The money is part of $9.25 million the North Central Indiana Regional Planning Council (NCIRPC) disbursed Thursday.
The City of Peru Riverfront Project is a revitalization project near the Wabash River. It is meant to ease traffic flow in the region, partly to accommodate Wabash River Equities, which has invested $20 million into the construction of a 170-multi-family housing unit complex in the area.
