While the coronavirus pandemic dominated much of this year’s news – local as well as statewide and national – other stories did push through and the area saw plenty of changes.

Those included a Peru School Board vote to approve a construction project that will eventually see Peru Junior High School classes moved into the High School building, county commissioner approval of lightly amended regulations concerning the construction of controversial, large-scale hog barns, celebration of the 100-year anniversary of women’s right to vote – punctuated by the election of the county’s first female commissioner – and the groundbreaking of a long-promised new YMCA.
