Betty Jo Leedy, 90, of Peru, formerly of Mexico, Indiana, passed away at 5:30pm on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru.

Betty was born in Peru to Tress and Gladys (Hamblin) Fox on January 28, 1930. She liked music – Elvis was her favorite. She met the love of her life in Peru and eventually married John Jr. Leedy in 1952. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Betty also had two sisters, Roseanna Mae Fox, and Dorothy J. Hatton, both deceased, along with her parents and two sons, Gary and Steve. She has two children, Jack (Cannie) Leedy, and Julie (George) Colwell; two grandchildren, Tim (Rachael) Colwell of Bunker Hill, and Deon (Sal) Rochin of Phoenix, AZ; as well as five great-grandchildren. Also, two nieces, Judy Herbst, and Pam (Rex) Stitsworth. Betty is also survived by brother and sister-in-law, Terry (Linda) Leedy.

She was a member of the Jefferson Town & Country Homemaker’s Club for many years, and when she went to the nursing home, they never forgot her, sending cards and bringing gifts (thank you!). The nurses at Miller’s were also absolute jewels – they were so kind! – thanks to them! She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Peru. Several sent cards and others visited – she was never forgotten – thanks to all there! Also, Guardian Angels were there when we needed them, and answered every question that we had – thank you!

Visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 1pm. Burial will take place at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana.
