Iraleen Frances (Stoffer) Sonafrank died on June 22, 2020 in the Health Care Unit of the Timbercrest Retirement Village in North Manchester, Indiana. She was 93 years of age. She was born in Deedsville, Indiana on March 22, 1927.
Iraleen is survived by her step-son, Harold (Hal) and wife Sandi Sonafrank of Clemmons, North Carolina; Granddaughter, Kathy Erkman McDonald of Columbia Illinois; Grandsons John (Jay) and wife Anita Sonafrank of Clovis, California, Adam Sonafrank of Fancy Gap, Virginia, Thomas Sonafrank and wife Tammy of Pinnacle, North Carolina and Chris Sonafrank and wife Lynn of Lewisville, North Carolina. Daughter-in-in laws, Betty Sonafrank of Terre Haute, Indiana and Kelly Sonafrank of Waco, Texas. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sonafrank was preceded in death by her parents Frank Albert Stoffer and Pearl Leona (Keefer) Stoffer. By her husband of 28 years, Floyd O. Sonafrank, step-sons, Raymond D. Sonafrank and John A. Sonafrank, two grandchildren, Karmyn Sonafrank and Raymond Sonafrank, Jr.
Iraleen graduated from Manchester College and Saint Francis University holding degrees in secondary, elementary education as well as a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She taught in the Miami County School System until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Peru Church of the Brethren where she served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School.
Mrs. Sonafrank moved to Timbercrest in 1997 where she spent the remaining years of her life. There she became friends to many.
There will be no formal memorial service at Iraleen’s request. She donated her remains to the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.
