Mrs. Ardys Reed, 95, was born May 28, 1925, and died Thursday, April 29, 2021.

She led the quintessential military lifestyle until her pilot husband retired near Mexico, Indiana in 1969. Ardys was born in Lafayette, Indiana. After graduating from Brookston High School as valedictorian, she was working for the post office when she met the love of her life. Though she was quite prim and proper, she was “chaperoning” a girl friend from her hometown on a road trip to Denver, CO where on a blind date she was introduced to a serviceman from Wyoming. He was so smitten that he proposed to her on top of Pike’s Peak. She wisely responded, “not until you come to Indiana and meet my parents!”
